3122.01 Drug Free Workplace

The Agency is committed to maintaining a drug-free workplace. The employees of CESA 5 have a right to work in an environment that is free from the non-medical use of alcohol, drugs and mood-altering substances. Therefore, the Board of Control strictly prohibits the manufacture, distribution, dispensing, possession or use of alcohol or controlled substances by an employee during the workday or while engaged in extra duty assignments while on CESA 5 property or in any CESA 5 owned or contracted vehicles.

Any employee engaged in work in connection with a federal grant who is convicted of a criminal drug statute violation occurring in the workplace must notify the CESA 5 Administrator within five (5) days of such conviction. The CESA 5 Administrator shall then notify the appropriate federal Agency within ten (10) days of receiving such notice. This applies to those employees engaged in work in connection with a grant paid directly to CESA 5 by federal government. It does not apply to those employees engaged in work with a federal grant paid to CESA 5 through any State Agency. When the use of drugs for medical purposes may affect behavior and performance, employees are encouraged to advise his/her immediate supervisor of the medication.
