3434 Personal Leave

Two (2) days of personal leave are provided annually for CESA 5 employees. Personal leave is prorated in the same manner as sick leave.

Personal leave is to be used:

(1) For personal business which cannot be conducted outside of normal business hours (e.g. court appearances, school activities with your children, real estate transactions)

or

(2) When the employee cannot report to work due to cancellation/closure by the school/Agency for weather related or other unforeseen hazardous workplace conditions.

For (1) above, personal leave will be granted if requested five (5) days in advance.

In the event the staff member serves in a local school district, the leave will be granted if an appropriate substitute can be found.

For (2) above, the request can be made the day of the cancellation/closure.

Personal days are not vacation days. For staff assigned to school buildings, they are not to be used on the first or last day of a staff member's contract or the first or last day of the student school year.

Personal leave days will be deducted from accumulated sick leave.
