3433 Emergency/Bereavement Leave

Emergency leave will be granted for the following circumstances:

A. Up to five (5) days in the event of death or serious illness or serious accident of a spouse/domestic partner or child.

B. Up to three (3) days in the event of death or serious illness or serious accident of a member of the family. Family includes father, father-in-law, mother, mother-in-law, brother, brother-in-law, sister, and sister in-law.

C. One (1) day will be allowed to attend the funeral of a friend or relative not noted in A or B.

D. Up to three (3) days for non-emergency care for a parent or sibling.

Extenuating circumstances may dictate the need for additional days in the event of death in the family. Any request for additional time must be communicated to the Agency Administrator or the Business Services Director. Emergency leave will be deducted from accumulated sick leave.
